John Carp for North Glastonbury Director
My name is John Carp and I’ve been a resident of North Glastonbury for fifteen years, and a practicing chiropractor serving the community here during that time.
I am the current Ombudsman for North Glastonbury. I’m also a former member of the North Glastonbury Teaching Center Board of Trustees and former GLA voting trustee for the same. I am now a representative for a landowner in North Glastonbury.
During my time as NG Ombudsman I have become quite familiar with the workings of the GLA, it’s covenants and bylaws.
I bring a unique skill set to the GLA. In addition to being a chiropractor, I am also a residential building remodeler. I have done much maintenance, remodeling and repair work in Glastonbury over the years. I also have management experience, having managed a home remodeling company and managed a health care facility with a staff of sixty and two-million-dollar budget. With this background I am more familiar with building codes, infrastructure, management, etc., than your average chiropractor.
I’ve heard talk in the past of disbanding the GLA. I think this would be a mistake. When the Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT) founders of Glastonbury developed the GLA and its original and revised covenants and other governing documents, they had in mind the creation and preservation of a beautiful and unique mountain foothill rural community. At that time residents were all CUT members, and that has now changed to roughly half CUT and half non-CUT members. But the covenants, bylaws, and building standards have not changed. I would work to apply the covenants fairly and equally to all landowners.
I look forward to serving on the GLA Board if elected and would hope to build on the hard work all have done in the past in maintaining this unique mountain community.
