New GLA Officers Elected at July 16th Board Meeting
Dennis Riley ran unopposed for President and Dan Kehoe was elected Vice President. Regina Wunsch was elected Treasurer. Director Charlene Murphy resigned from the unpaid job of Secretary and no one else wanted that position. Director Mark Seaver finally agreed to accept the job as he did when everyone else declined the Treasuer's responsibilities a few years back.
Although the recent election maintained the status quo on the GLA Board the appointment of Charlotte Mizzi as North Glastonbury Road Committee Chair increased the power of Church Universal and Triumphant(CUT) in that half of Glastonbury. The lion's share of North Glastonbury landowner funds were diverted to maintaining and improving private CUT owned roads in 2017 and 2018. Then GLA President and Road Chair Dennis Riley altered the 2017 spring grading road contract after the Board approved it. He never sought nor received Road Committee or GLA Board approval for his secretive rewriting of an approved contract. As a result of his misdeed the gravel portion of CUT owned Sirius Drive was completely upgraded at landowner expense in 2017.
In 2018 Riley led the charge with Director Regina Wunsch to cancel another North Glastonbury road grading contract. In 2018 a little used road that sits on CUT owned land, the gravel portion of Aries Drive, was upgraded to the same high standard as Sirius Drive. Both Sirius and Aries are owned by CUT but were upgraded with 100% landowner funds. CUT did not pay anything. With the appointment of CUT priest Charlotte Mizzi as North Glastonbury Road Chair landowners can once again expect to see many GLA platted roads neglected while private CUT owned roads get well taken care of.
Glastonbury Covenants specifically state that the GLA is ONLY responsible for maintaining the platted road network. However since 1998 the GLA has willingly maintained many CUT owned roads and even Park County roads while simultaneously neglecting Glastonbury platted roads.
Newly elected director John Carp will take on a newly created Road Manager position along with sitting Director Leo Keeler. Several highly qualified landowners who possess detailed knowledge of Glastonbury roads and have worked on them for years were not asked to fill the position.
