Peeping Tom Bear in South Glastonbury

Subject: Bear break in attempt at Parker residence, 21 Corleonis Way, South Glastonbury

Dear Neighbors,

We were woken this night (approx. 1:50 am) by a bear that was trying to break into our house, at 21 Corleonis Way, South Glastonbury. I have already called Livingston dispatch to report the incident.

Needless to say we are quite shocked!

Yes, we have apple trees around the house, and they are full of ripe apples. But last night I had left the greenhouse door wide open, and the bear had walked right in and got hold of a garbage bag.

The bear was trying to get into Clare’s bedroom. She thought someone was trying to climb in her window. Clare yelled at the top of her voice, “Rudy get your gun!” So I entered Clare’s bedroom with my pistol drawn.

As soon as I saw the damage to the window screen, I knew it was a bear. So when I went looking for it I found the bear on my doorstep facing right at me through the screen door. At that point it was just inches away, and only the glass of the screen door was separating us.

I yelled at the bear through the closed screen door as loud as I could several times, and it didn’t run away. It looked at me menacingly as if to say you don’t tell me what to do. It had every intention of finishing dinner which was splattered on my porch. When it went for the garbage I opened the door and fired my pistol and it ran away.

This bear was not scared! Normally you’d think that by yelling it would run away, but I had to fire my pistol to scare it away. This bear is very dangerous, it is trying to break into people’s homes, it is not afraid of people, please let the community know.
