Two Grizzly Bears Spotted in Low South Glastonbury Two grizzly bears tore apart a deer carcass on Dry Creek Road in South Glastonbury earlier this week. Traffic came to a standstill while people waited for the bears to finish devouring the dead deer. The bears appeared to weigh about 250 to 300 pounds each and were perhaps two years old.
Grizzly bears are much more dangerous than black bears. They have little to no fear of humans because they have no memory of ever being hunted. They are bad tempered and will charge humans even if not provoked. Having two grizzlies in close proximity to over 100 dwellings is an accident waiting to happen. If those grizzlies were in High South wandering cattle from Storey ranch may have been attacked and killed. Extreme caution is advised if you encounter grizzly bears.
