First Snow in Glastonbury... The last house on Sagittarius Skyway in high South Glastonbury sits at 6,500 feet above sea level. Much of Paradise Valley rests below between 4,500 and 5,100 feet above sea level. High South generally is the last place snow melts in spring and is the first place snow falls in autumn. September 30th marked the first measurable snow accumulation this fall; 1/2 inch has fallen since dawn. It will melt today or tomorrow but more will come. Usually the ground is covered with snow from late November to early April. The last drifts in High South usually melt in early to mid-May.
Winter is coming. Now is the time for yard work, snow tires and if you have a garage, cleaning it so you can find your vehicle when the storms really bury us.
