Local resort towns look to new tax for infrastructure funding The Bozeman Chronicle reports "Gallatin County’s resort towns — West Yellowstone and Big Sky — are making plans for major infrastructure projects now that the state Legislature has passed a new, optional tax.
Senate Bill 241, which passed the House 71-26 this week and the Senate 33-16 in March, will likely be signed by Gov. Steve Bullock. The bill would allow Montana’s 10 resort areas to ask voters whether they want to raise the local sales tax on luxury items from 3% to 4%, with the additional 1% designated to infrastructure."
