Claudette Dirkers for North Glastonbury Director
Glastonbury landowners, in person and on the pages of the Forum, use words and terms like "hard work, a brilliant mind," "dedicated," "community-minded," "gracious to everyone," " exceptionally prepared," when describing Claudette Dirkers. For the past five years, Dirkers has been a familiar face at GLA Board meetings. She has served on the Governing Documents, Election, Road & Weed and Community Property Committees.
On the GLA Election Committee, Dirkers applied her writing and research skills to help reform the election process and bring it into compliance with Montana state law. As a result, Glastonbury Landowner's Association (GLA) ballots were finally confidential. Voter participation immediately increased as the system was reformed. In 2016, a record number of candidates competed for open spaces on the GLA Board.
Claudette Dirkers was instrumental in researching and editing the revised Conflict of Interest Policy for the Board of Directors via her position on the Governing Documents Committee.

Dirkers was appointed by the GLA Board as chairperson of the Road Policy/Long-Term Road Plan Advisory Group. With her supervision, the group designed and wrote a new Road Policy that provided services to all landowners. It conformed to the Covenants and laid the groundwork for a long-term road maintenance plan.
On the GLA Road Committee, Claudette Dirkers had a pivotal role in getting the GLA Board to recognize that long-term planning and scheduling yearly maintenance are the first steps to repairing and upgrading our road system. She photographed and documented the many problems with our road network and periodically brought them to the road committee for review. Dirkers was also designated by the GLA President-Road Chair to meet with the road engineer for a tour and analysis of North Glastonbury Roads.
Claudette's leadership and investigation into the health of Glastonbury Roads led to the discovery and cleaning of almost 50 culverts. Many were completely buried and had been neglected for almost 20 years. All are now clean and functional. By her initiative, she spearheaded a project to eliminate the road-blocking snowdrift on the crest of Sirius Hill for the first time in the history of Glastonbury.
Dirkers also designed work orders and contracts for North and South Glastonbury road maintenance. Her work included guardrail placement, road safety signs, installation of roadside ditches, magnesium chloride application, paved road repair and gravel road mixtures, and grading. Additionally, she edited road committee meeting minutes and numerous projects for board approval.

In November of 2017, Claudette Dirkers and Jeff Riederer received special recognition for their dedication and timeless service to all landowners and the 2017 Road Committee. They were given engraved plaques and special thanks for their dedication and hard work.
During the winter of 2016-2017, and again, in the winter of 2017-2018, Dirkers was a snowplowing coordinator for North Glastonbury.
Claudette Dirkers is also a wife and mom. Her son, Micah, grew up in Glastonbury, and recently graduated magna cum laude with a double major from Colgate University’s Benton Scholars Program. Claudette Dirkers served as School Board Vice-President and Fundraising Manager for The Thomas Moore School in Glastonbury, while her son attended classes there.
Claudette Dirker's Official GLA Bio follows:
For more than 20 years, I have been a landowner in North Glastonbury, during which time I have held many positions in the community. Those positions were a school board vice president, fundraising supervisor, and project manager. During my GLA involvement, I diligently and simultaneously served on 5 committees and as a NG Snowplowing Coordinator for 2 successive years. For the last 3 years, I have avidly participated on the Election Committee where my writing and editing skills resulted in clearer policies for both election procedures and landowner mailings and refined all the instructions for annual meeting volunteers.
My work on the Road Committee included researching road standards, editing road preservation proposals, advocating magnesium chloride application, installing roadside ditches, cleaning clogged culverts, and meeting with a road engineer. By my initiative, 20 years of dangerous one-lane winter driving on the blind curve at the crest of Sirius Hill was solved with the correct placement of double rows of sturdy snow fences.
As a GLA Director, I will bring the same expertise, diligence, proofreading abilities, and research skills for better roads, efficient elections, and a prosperous community.
