Dear GLA Landowners,
There is a “red letter” ‘Note to all Landowners’ on the GLA website that needs to be countered. It was written by Charlotte Mizzi (GLA Secretary) and made to look like an official notice, even though it was posted without full board knowledge and approval. Below, the red inked (or italicized) sections are direct quotes from Mizzi and the black ink tells the “rest of the story”.
“We have recently received two petitions from landowners.
The first petition is for us to continue the election that was started in October, same people, nothing changed.”
The first petition is for us to continue the election that was started in October, same people, nothing changed.”
The first petition, signed by over 50 landowners, asks for a Special Membership meeting with the agenda to complete the November 14, 2020 election. Mizzi’s phrase ‘same people, nothing changed’ is a puzzle. Is it a dig at those who signed the petition or is Mizzi stating the obvious that the petition would complete the election with the same candidates?
The board has already received over 100 absentee ballots and all that needs to be done to complete the November 14, 2020 election is to name a day when members can vote in person or by proxy or revoke their ballot if they should desire to do so.

The second one {2nd petition aka:Parker Petition} has two parts to it:
1. It is asking us to have a brand new election, from scratch.
2. It’s also asking for the removal of five directors: Timothy Brockett, Jerry Ladewig, John McAlister, Andrea Sedlak and Claudette Dirkers.”

It is interesting to note that Mizzi reversed the order of the two parts of the second petition which was signed by about 20 members. The petition asks first for the removal of half of the board and then calls for a whole new election from scratch.
It is a fact that Director Mizzi signed the second petition along with current Glastonbury Landowners Association (GLA) Directors Newman Brozovsky, Gerald Dubiel, Aija-Mara Accatino and Ed Dobrowski. This half of the GLA board alleges that the other half has failed to discharge their duties in good faith when they voted to disqualify four potential board nominees.
The facts are that at a Special Board Meeting on October 1, 2020 the board voted 7 - 4 not to approve four board nominees who failed to follow the instructions at the top of the nomination application form. The four disqualified nominees were recruited by Mizzi (and by GLA President Brozovsky) to run for the board.
Further, what Mizzi does not say is how the privileged attorney-client information that calls for a new election became part of the second petition. The leaking of this confidential information suggests that the second petition began as an inside job, and that it is actually a coup attempt by Mizzi to take over the board.
The irony is that the half of the board that does little if any work, is the half that wants to get rid of the directors who do the lion’s share of the work.

“The board has approved having a meeting on February 27th at Emigrant Hall from 10:00am to 12:30pm, which would also be available on zoom and phone-in numbers.”
Notice of the meeting which Mizzi references was only sent to landowners who get GLA notices by email, which is about 25% of the Membership. The board received the first petition on December 30, 2020 and the second on January 2, 2021
“The 5 aforementioned board members have not however, voted to allow the board to send you, the landowners, the content of the petitions so you have an idea what the petitions are asking for, as required by the by-laws.”
Not true. The Bylaws do not require that the board to send “the content of the petitions” to the members. The motion to send “the content of the petition to the members,” failed on a 4-4 tie vote with one abstention. Brockett did not attend the meeting where this vote was taken. Mizzi’s math does not add up.
“Nor have they voted to allow us to send you ballots so you can vote on which actions you want to take.”
Part of the reason the motion to send absentee ballots failed is that it included the cover letter where Mizzi neglected to state how the directors, which she and others wish to remove from the board, would be given the right to defend themselves and have access to a reasonable fact-finding process before the voting took place.
“There is a lack of quorum, or a majority vote on how to precisely state the exact reason for the meeting as required by the bylaws. The purpose of this correspondence is to let you know that we might be late in sending out the required notice and associated documentation for having this meeting of the landowners.
This is lame, Mizzi. Late is not an excuse when you and the board had 30 days to give meeting notice to ALL landowners. The motion to send the meeting notice failed because you wanted to use the cover letter which you wrote to support your controlled narrative.
If you had just stated the facts that the board received two petitions within a few days of each other and that there would be a special membership meeting to allow the landowners to consider and decide both petitions, you could have been viewed as a wise leader who seeks to unite, not divide, the board. Instead, your leadership style is ever more commonly known as the coup leader or the Wicked Witch of the West.
