I Need Your Vote (But I am NOT a Candidate)
From The Desk of Tim Brockett
November 2nd - Important Update
The November 11th, 2017 GLA Annual Meeting has been changed to December 2nd, 2017. As a result your proxy vote is now more important than ever.
All South Glastonbury landowners will be getting a 2nd ballot shortly. The Proxy Designation Form from the original mailing and from the second ballot will all be accepted at the December 2nd meeting. If you already filled out a Proxy Form you do not need to fill out another one. If you are confused by the second ballot, cannot make the December 2nd meeting or have lost your absentee ballot please vote by using a Proxy form. Your vote is critical and may be the one that decides if the Glastonbury Road network continues to be revitalized.

Many Forum readers know me as the Forum Administrator. What you may not know was I was allowed to serve on the Road Committee in early summer after both chairs resigned. I saw that as a rare opportunity to address decades old problems with the Glastonbury road network and bring better roads to ALL landowners. It was my pleasure to work with skilled and gifted team members. In the last four months the new Road Committee has:
- Cleaned and created roadside ditches for all Glastonbury platted roads.
- Dumped, graded and rolled over 88 loads of gravel on Glastonbury roads. 54 loads went to South Glastonbury of which 18 were generously donated by High South landowners!
- Worked with the Road Advisory Group chaired by Claudette Dirkers and Walter Wunsch. They created a new Draft Road Policy and are currently drafting a 5 year comprehensive Road Plan. Director Mark Seaver and others support "the development of long-term road maintenance and improvement plan".
- Found, staked, mapped and cleaned Glastonbury road culverts that had been buried for over 20 years.
- This fall we will be treating 10,000 feet of Glastonbury gravel roads with Magnesium Chloride. We will add another treatment in the spring for the same 10,000 feet of roads. Mag Chloride hardens the road surface, helps to prevent washboards and reduces the need for constant replenishment of fresh gravel.
- In November the Road Committee will be installing almost 2,000 feet of snow fencing along Dry Creek Road, Sirius Hill and upper Sagittarius Skyway.
- We also have a proposal to install Curve, Stop, Speed Limit and other cautionary road signs that if approved by the GLA Board, will commence in late November.
- All of the above work is 100% paid for and will NOT require any assessment increase.
Glastonbury is in the beginning stage of a renaissance.
Extraordinary changes by ordinary people are addressing decades-old problems and reinvigorating our community. Roads are being rebuilt, a mini-housing boom is underway, and new landowners are settling in Glastonbury.
In 2017 further positive change came from the GLA lead by President Dennis Riley:
In 2017 further positive change came from the GLA lead by President Dennis Riley:
- Election rules, procedures and ballots were overhauled. Ballots are now 100% confidential and the system is more secure. Cumulative voting, which would allow under represented groups like women, to be on the GLA Board was meticulously researched and proposed.
- The Project Review Committee under Chairman Kevin Newby created streamlined checklists that allow landowners to develop their property, while easily abiding with our governing documents. Previously Kevin Newby saved the GLA over $200,000.00 by negotiating with Park County to pay for Dry Creek Road maintenance.
- Board antagonists and death threat issuers, Dan and Val O'Connell, were legally blocked from physically attending future GLA Board and Committee meetings.
- A plan was developed and implemented to finally collect in excess of a quarter million dollars in past due assessments.
- A new GLA Board Treasurer, Regina Wunsch, has brought a high degree of professionalism and accuracy to our finances.
Glastonbury is on the verge of being reborn. Tremendous efforts, made by unsung heroes, have set our community on a path that will benefit all landowners. A warm vibrancy is now evident throughout Glastonbury. New and often younger folks are moving here. Property values are starting to increase.
I need your vote even though I am not a candidate.
Glastonbury Elections have been moved from November 11th to December 2nd, 2017. Your vote is critical and necessary for this progress to continue. Many landowners have trusted me with their Proxy Ballot in the past. Will you entrust me with your Proxy vote for 2017?
If you are confused by the Election rules or the 2nd absentee ballot sent to South Glastonbury landowners please vote via a Proxy Ballot. If you have lost your absentee ballot, cannot make it to the December 2nd meeting or do not wish to drive in winter weather then please vote with a Proxy ballot. The Official GLA Proxy lists the November 11th date for the Annual meeting but all Proxy Designation Forms will be accepted at the December 2nd, 2017 meeting.
Please consider downloading and filling out a Proxy Designation Form today. Please fill in your name, phone number and signature so I may cast a secret ballot on your behalf for GLA Board candidates who have worked tirelessly to achieve the above results.
They need your support to continue their work of improving Glastonbury roads, investing landowner’s assessments wisely and further rebuilding a community that had fallen into disrepair.

Elections in Glastonbury are often decided by a handful of votes.
In 2016, just five (5) more votes would have brought fresh faces to the GLA Board, and reinvigorated it with new energy. Only one of the new candidates was eventually seated; Leo Keeler. I am hoping that in 2017, the rebirth of Glastonbury will proceed with a quickened pace, because you and many other landowners will choose to assist me with your proxy ballots.
